Photodynamic Therapy

We use photodynamic therapy (PDT) as a modern procedure for the treatment of flat basalioma and actinic keratoses. The area to be treated is irradiated with a special UV light for about half an hour. A locally acting chemotherapeutic agent is applied several hours beforehand. This is stored exclusively in the malignantly altered skin cells and, in conjunction with the UV radiation, selectively destroys the tumor tissue. Depending on the clinical findings and response to therapy, several sessions may be required. In order to be able to recognize and treat any new skin changes of this kind at an early stage, regular follow-up checks are required. We recommend using a sunscreen that is tailored to your skin type.
